Food & Beverage Manager – Full-Time
WestCana is seeking a skilled and experienced Food & Beverage Manager to join our team on a full-time basis.
Position Details:
- Location: Vancouver
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours weekly
- Wage: $70,000 annually

What we're looking for:
- Strong food and beverage management or supervisory experience, preferably in a high-volume hospitality, restaurant, hotel, senior living or similar environment.
- Strong front-of-house experience with a genuine focus on customer and resident service.
- Experience leading, scheduling and developing a food and beverage team.
- Experience with payroll, timekeeping and labour management.
- Experience with inventory management, ordering and cost control.
- Working knowledge of back-of-house and kitchen operations.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a busy operating environment.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Comfortable working hands-on and being visible and engaged with both residents and employees.
- Ability to build accountability within a team while maintaining a positive and respectful work environment.
- Food Safe certification is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the day-to-day food and beverage operation, with a strong focus on front-of-house service and resident experience.
- Create a welcoming, professional and service-focused dining environment.
- Lead, coach and develop the front-of-house team and ensure clear expectations are established and maintained.
- Prepare and manage staff schedules to ensure appropriate coverage for all meal periods, events and operational requirements.
- Manage timekeeping and payroll, ensuring employee hours are accurate and submitted on time.
- Ensure staff understand their schedules, responsibilities, service standards, uniform requirements, name tags, start times and daily expectations.
- Maintain strong communication with the team and ensure important information is communicated clearly and consistently.
- Work closely with the Chef and kitchen team to coordinate smooth service between the front and back of house.
- Ensure breakfast, lunch, dinner, catering and special events are properly organized and executed.
- Conduct regular service checks and provide coaching and direction when standards are not being met.
- Build strong relationships with residents and respond professionally to feedback, concerns and requests.
- Monitor the overall resident dining experience and identify opportunities to improve service.
- Recruitment, interviewing, onboarding, training and development of food and beverage employees.
- Manage food and beverage inventory, including ordering, receiving, storage and stock rotation.
- Monitor product usage, waste and inventory levels and work with the Chef to control food and beverage costs.
- Have a working understanding of kitchen operations and be able to support the back-of-house team when required.
- Monitor labour costs and staffing levels and make adjustments based on operational needs.
- Ensure proper opening and closing procedures are followed consistently.
- Maintain accurate schedules, payroll records, inventory records and other required documentation.
- Coordinate resident events, functions and catering requirements.
- Work with vendors and suppliers as required.
- Ensure food safety, sanitation, health and safety and company standards are followed.
- Address operational issues quickly and work with the appropriate team members to find practical solutions.
- Hold team members accountable to established standards while providing support and coaching.
- Work closely with the site leadership team and Chef to ensure the food and beverage operation supports the overall goals.
- Build a strong team and operating structure that allows the department to function effectively without constant management oversight.
- Take ownership of the operation and ensure commitments, issues and follow-up items are completed.
- Perform other duties as required.
